New COO positions BA for growth and innovation
Binary Arts Corporation is pleased to announce two appointments that “add exciting new firepower to the BA team,” according to BA Co-Founder and Vice President Andrea Barthello.
Ralph J. Cuomo, formerly Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Time Life, Inc., joins the staff as Chief Operating Officer. Ralph has more than 25 years of professional experience in all aspects of finance and accounting, as well as extensive experience developing and implementing strategic plans, e-commerce strategies, process improvement programs, and other operational best practices.
Among his numerous accomplishments: Ralph developed a strategic plan at Time Life that led to a profit improvement of 120 percent; launched a new business segment that generated $15 million in sales in its first quarter; implemented enterprise-wide process improvements that reduced annual operating costs by more than $20 million; and directed the complete redesign of outdated fulfillment systems and processes.
Ralph earned a BS in Accounting from Brooklyn College and a Masters in Business Policy from Columbia University. His professional experience includes positions as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Book-of-the-Month Club, Inc., Corporate Comptroller at Time Inc., and Executive Vice President Finance and Operations at Scott Foresman & Company.
“We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Ralph’s caliber,” says Barthello, who has been serving as COO and will now lead the Sales and Marketing function.
Also joining BA as its new Sales Manager, Independent Accounts is Chuck Barrow, who has served as a highly successful advertising Account Executive with Gelia Wells & Mohr in Alexandria, The Ad Agency in Vienna, VA, and The Reeves Agency in Baltimore, MD. Chuck has proven experience in marketing, web development, advertising, graphic design, and printing services.
Chuck brings particular strength in new business development. He led the responses to government RFPs, which won a host of large accounts worth $100,000 and up. He has also implemented Customer Relationship Management programs and developed numerous, integrated marketing-communications campaigns for budgets of up to $2 million.
“As our product line expands to include more games and cover a broader demographic base, we’re going to pursue very aggressive sales strategies,” explains Barthello. “Chuck has the track record, creativity, and customer support skills to bring a fresh approach to our sales plans, strengthen our relationships with our core independent retailers, and support our field sales force.”
